Suprabha and Arjuna - Wayang style

dimensions: 71x42,5x4,5 cm
weight: 5400 gr

This wall panel is made in Wayang style. This style is used in traditional painting but also in the well-known Wayang puppets. Up to this point I have not seen any other relief in this style, so this example has a special meaning for me, mainly because it differs greatly from all other reliefs in its artistic representation of the figures.
Character naming may be incorrect, as yet unconfirmed. The male character carries a bow and most likely has a Supit Urang as a headgear, therefore he is probably Arjuna.
The lines are very precise and strictly geometric, just as one would expect from the highly abstract style of the Wayang. Arjuna's hair deserves special attention, it is presented in elegant waves ending in ruffles.
I bought the relief from a Dutch antique dealer. Unfortunately, there is no provenance information at all, which is really sad for such an unusual collector's item. I don't know the age either, and there are hardly any comparable offers on the market with which one could compare the approximate age.
