Bridge to Lanka

 measurements: 70,5x47 cm
weight: 5000 gr

Top: Hanuman (above left) flies to Lanka to see Sita, who has been abducted by Ravana (above right).
In the middle: the monkey-like Vanara build the bridge (Rama Setu) to Lanka so that Rama's army can go to war against Ravana's to free Sita, on the picture you see Rama and Lakshmana riding over this bridge.
Below: right below the horse is Nala, the constructor of the bridge, other Vanara are helping with the construction by laying stones.

A rather rare motif for a carving. The typical style of I Ketut Lanus is immediately recognizable. Softly flowing organic lines, the individual elements are only slightly detached from the background but appear plastic and detailed. I am more than happy to own two carvings made by Lanus. The other wall panel, depicting the Battle of Kurukshetra, is also here in my listing.
