Ravana grabs Sita in a very explicit pose that clearly expresses his strong sensual desire. Usually this scene is shown in a more restrained and moral way, so this artistic variation is a successful change of the familiar motif.
The bird above looks a bit strange. It even appears to have teeth in its beak. Could it be Jatayu, king of the vultures, who rushes to Sita's rescue and fails tragically and sadly?
