Uma and Shepard (Shiva in Disguise)

measurements: 31,5x9,5x9 cm
weight: 690 gr

A story of love, betrayal and revenge. The Hindu epics and tales are not only historically valuable but also very entertaining, full of sex and crime.
This statue in Art Deco style tells a special story. Uma once was sent to bring some milk. Her husband Shiva - in disguise as a shepherd - offered her milk for having sex with her, and she agreed. Coming back home there began a new conflict. Uma denied her betrayel but was proven wrong by her own son Ganesha. See my other statue Ganesha with Durga for more.
The statue itself is in very good shape, just little scratches here and there. I was lucky to get it for a nice price. Art Deco is sold to such high prices that I'm not as interested in it usually, sad to say.
