Woman with Child

 measurements: 29x10x7,5 cm
weight: 890 gr
made in 1940s

I started my collection with daily life figurines besides others but fully switched to  collect characters of mythological background. And even though I like the look of Art Deco very much, I won't collect it as it's way too expensive and I don't have room enough to collect Art Deco and mythological items as well. You need to stay focused.
So buying this woman with her child was an exception. I just love how beautiful this work is done. The child as well as the woman have a kind of strange look on their faces, unsmiling and having their mouths a little open. The woman's hair knot is very well done, with so many windings,  her clothes seem to be folded many times. All in all I like this very artistic look combined with Art Deco elements.
And as you know I'm a fan of supreme wood quality, this here really is superior.

On the base of the figurine there is something written on, like an address in the Netherlands. And there is the year 1947 mentioned too. That must be the year the figurine was bought, which makes it one of the oldest figurine in my collection with a proof of age.
