A very nice variation of the quite common theme of Devi Kadru and a Naga. The base in the form of a bottom plate is somewhat different from the usual representation. But most of all I like the sweet smile of the goddess Kadru. I wonder what she saw that made her smile? I am open to your ideas. :-)

This is the second statue of Kadru in my collection. This time in a slightly modified representation, which makes this statue special. Compared to the usual pose, the Naga seems to bite into Kadru's dress here, moreover the Naga does not wear a crown. This could be related to the fact that Kadru is the mother of many nagas. It is possible that the carver used his artistic freedom to depict another Naga.
